In 1950, Farid Cassis founded Cassis International in Egypt, embarking on an exceptional journey of innovation and determination. Starting in the family business, distributing BASF products, Farid envisioned a brighter future by developing his own line of ecological, non-toxic sizing products, a breakthrough in the textile industry.
A Visionary Journey: Egypt to Europe (1950–1975)
Farid’s groundbreaking innovations in sizing products earned widespread success, leading to collaborations with European chemical experts. Between 1960 and 1975, Cassis International expanded its presence to Belgium, France, and Italy, establishing itself as a pioneer in ecological textile solutions.
New Horizons: South America (1980s)
In 1980, due to political and family challenges in Egypt, Farid turned to South America, where the textile industry was flourishing in Argentina and Brazil. Farid revolutionized the industry by introducing Mandioca Starch and the iconic Colante Universal, quickly gaining recognition among leading textile companies. With production units in Argentina, Uruguay, and Brazil, CASSIS products became staples across America’s principal textile factories.
Global Expansion: Asia (2000s)
In the early 2000s, Cassis International expanded to Asia, marking a new milestone in the company’s history. Partnering with Rieter as their agent, Farid’s ecological products eliminated PVA from textile recipes, cementing the company’s leadership in sustainable sizing solutions. Markets in China, India, and Taiwan embraced CIC’s products for their unparalleled efficiency and ecological benefits.

Farid Cassis passed away at 82, leaving behind a remarkable legacy. His life’s work embodied:
